Cancer Screening & Treatment Programs In Canada today, almost half of us will be diagnosed with cancer; thirty eight percent of women and fourty four percent of men. An estimated and astounding eighty percent of these cancers are preventable, being caused by smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, dietary factors and/or environmental toxins. Our very own highly regarded B.C. Cancer Agency (BCCA) states that at least half of cancers are preventable.
IHC provides the highest level of expertise in Naturopathic and Integrative Oncology in the country. Dr. Gurdev Parmar, ND, FABNO is the first naturopathic physician to receive a Fellowship with the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO) in Canada, working closely with oncologists over many years. Dr. Johan Ghazali has also been working with cancer patients for many years, starting his work at Vancouver's Center for Integrated Healing. All supported by an incredible team of registered nurses, chiropractors, massage therapists, counsellors and support staff.
Here at IHC we provide the best in Cancer Screening programs which include thorough physical exams, breast or prostate exams, mammography, thermography, and all laboratory markers including PSA ratio, Hemoccult, and the CA tests. This allows our patients, specifically those with a strong family history, to proactively screen for specific cancers. In most cases, early detection leads to much better outcomes. We have designed programs for both Male Cancer Screening and Female Cancer Screening.
We also provide cancer treatment programs for patients with all cancer types. Whether before, during or after conventional cancer treatment, we provide the highest level of expertise available in integrating conventional and naturopathic approaches to cancer treatment.
The issue of cancer treatment is very complex and individual. An approach including diet, lifestyle, and many different supportive treatments alongside conventional treatment is now commonplace. The surveys conducted over the past decade consistently indicate that over 70% of cancer patients also use some form of adjunctive treatment; in many cases without consulting doctors knowledgable in drug-herb or drug-nutrient interactions, or with the knowledge of their oncologists. It is certainly best when each health care provider is aware of all treatments being used, allowing for collaboration between the varied providers. This is certainly the approach of today, and the future.
