Counselling and Support

A cancer diagnosis is an extremely traumatic time, both for the individual and the surrounding family. A diagnosis can evoke a wide range of emotions, and leave you feeling fearful and isolated. While the support of family and friends is important, it is often useful to talk to a professional outside the family, someone who is trained to help you explore your feelings and emotions in order to find different ways of coping with the situation. Cancer counselling is intended to provide you and your loved ones with support. It is aimed at helping you address some of the issues you will encounter during your illness, and overcome a challenging sense of being overwhelmed.

Despite having initial reservations, many have come to understand that talking to a professional counsellor can help significantly. Counsellors are people who are trained to listen and help people talk through their problems. They will not give advice or answers, but will help you find your own answers. Talking one to one with a trained counsellor in a more focused way can help you sort out your feelings and find ways of coping with them. This can be very helpful, particularly if you aren't able to discuss your feelings and emotions with people close to you for fear of burdening them.

At Integrated Health ClinicTM Cancer Care Centre we offer confidential, specialist support, provided by a highly skilled therapists to help you face the many challenges that a diagnosis and its treatment can bring.
