IV Intralipid Therapy
Support your fertility journey with personalized immune-focused care at Integrated Health Clinic.
How Can It Help?
A healthy pregnancy requires the maternal immune system to adapt to the developing embryo. In some individuals, excessive immune activation may interfere with implantation or early pregnancy. Research suggests that Intralipid therapy may help reduce natural killer (NK) cell activity and promote a healthier TH1/TH2 immune balance, creating a more favourable environment for implantation. While not appropriate for every patient, it can be considered as part of an individualized fertility treatment plan.
What is IV Intralipid Therapy?
IV Intralipid therapy is an intravenous infusion used as part of a comprehensive fertility treatment plan for selected patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF), recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), or suspected immune-related reproductive concerns. Originally developed for intravenous nutrition, Intralipid has been studied for its potential role in supporting implantation by helping regulate certain immune responses involved in early pregnancy.

Your Assessment at IHC
Every patient undergoes an individualized assessment before treatment. A consultation with one of our doctors and appropriate screening blood work are required before IV therapy is administered. We are also happy to accept referrals from family physicians, naturopathic physicians, or fertility specialists. A referral form is available for your healthcare provider.
What to Expect
The infusion is administered in our comfortable IV Therapy Suite by our of our registered nurses. Treatment timing is individualized and may be coordinated with ovulation, intrauterine insemination (IUI), embryo transfer, a positive pregnancy test, or early pregnancy depending on your treatment plan.
Safety
Intralipid therapy is generally well tolerated. Because it contains soybean oil and egg phospholipids, it is not suitable for individuals with allergies to these ingredients. Your medical history, medications, allergies, and laboratory results will be reviewed to ensure treatment is appropriate.
Possible Side Effects
Most patients tolerate treatment well. Occasionally mild side effects such as headache, nausea, flushing, fever, chills, fatigue, or discomfort at the IV site may occur. Serious allergic reactions are uncommon but can occur. Patients are monitored throughout their infusion.
