Perimenopause

If you are in your early to mid 40’s you may be in or soon be in perimenopause. What is perimenopause? It is the time period up to 10 years before your period stops where hormones change and can cause a lot possibly concerning symptoms. Symptoms of perimenopause can include irregular cycles, heavier or lighter periods, mood swings, fatigue, insomnia, depression or anxiety, weight gain, skin dryness, vaginal dryness, hot flashes or night sweats, brain fog…and the list goes on. You may have some symptoms or many of the symptoms.

So how do you know if you are in perimenopause? Unfortunately there is no single test that will tell you if you are perimenopausal but there may be hints of it on bloodwork. Do not try to diagnose and treat yourself. A full work up including symptom history and testing by an experienced practitioner can help you get to the root of your symptoms and help you to optimize how you feel during this time of extreme hormone swings. There are many options to help you feel better during this time and naturopathic doctors can be a great resource!

If you are struggling with any of these symptoms and would like some help and guidance call the clinic to book with one of our experienced Naturopathic Doctors!
